MP-1B Review Mar 03, 2011
By ItCouldBAny1 It's a pretty solid figure. It's so durable and heavy. It's pretty much the best representation of Nemesis Prime out there. It's a good price for those who want a quality Transformer figure. The detail's pretty awesome. I'd highly recommend this to anyone that's a fan of Transformers, toy-collectors, who loves robots or trucks.
So this gets a perfect score.
Clicky Joints Mar 29, 2012
By Chris Let me just say, Nemesis Prime makes a fantastic paper weight. I was not aware this toy had clicky joints before I bought it. I do not like clicky joints. Transformers traditionally do not have clicky joints. They are VERY annoying and subtract from posability.
However, this toy is virtually indestructable. No joke. Though, the cover on the back comes off too easily in my opinion.
Primo Prime! Jan 09, 2012
By Milhouse Van Houten Truly a masterpiece. A foot tall, weighing nearly 3 pounds (on my scale), very poseable, and very detailed. Legs and most of the chest are made of metal. The wheels are rubber and have working suspension. Plastic seems high quality. Knee, ankle, and elbow joints look like they have working hydraulics.
Transformation is difficult, but I only had to look at the manual once or twice after seeing a transformation on youtube. The fact it's complicated only adds to the awesomeness. I easily rank the robot-mode 10 out of 10. Truck mode 9 out of 10 (which is why Takara made the MP-10 Optimus Prime with a more 'perfect' truck mode, however it's smaller and I hear it has no metal body parts).
Why did I get the black version? In my case, it came down to price. At the time of writing, this Black Prime is a fair bit cheaper than the traditional Red and Blue, and even the white "Ultra-Magnus" version which all come from the same mold.
Officially this is designated as "Convoy, Black Version", rather than Nemesis Prime. You can call it whatever you want. To me it's a black repaint of Optimus Prime, as in Japan (so I hear) black is associated with experience, wisdom, and nobility, while white is associated with inexperience and serfdom.
Many folks probably have questions about durability. I'm not a believer of collections in general. If I buy something, I intend to take it out of the box and use it, even if that use is primarily display. That said, this figure IS durable enough for a mature child to play with. Don't expect anything that gets used to retain its "mint" condition status, but this figure doesn't seem any more breakable than other modern transformers (which are still relatively breakable, in my option).
There was a single flaw in the figure where the left leg would not compress to turn into truck mode. My last resort was to take out the 3 screws holding the metal frame together and try to see what the problem was. Worst case scenario if it didn't work, it would still transform, but the flatbed part would just be a little too long. Luckily the surgery worked out fine because I was unlikely to be successful in doing a return on a collectable (and determined I wasn't going to try before I did any unscrewing, of course).
In terms of shipping, ToyArena was great. They responded to an inquiry email very fast, and I had tracking all the way. Oddly enough the package arrived on a Sunday, and as a Canadian, had to pay the duty collection to the courier, but that part was expected.
One last thing to add. Other reviews mention the box turns into a cardboard trailer to use with the figure. In my case, there is a cardboard INSERT which turns into the trailer. That means, the box can be preserved AND you still get the trailer, which was not the case in the reviews I saw. I'm still not using it, as I have a 3rd party trailer already coming, however I might have thought twice about that purchase if I knew about the insert vs. destroying the box.

awesomeness Aug 05, 2011
By arceeprimus99 i am currently awaiting the arrival of nemesis prime. As a starting collector, i knew this item was different from the rest of the ''prime line'' as soon as i laid eyes on it. There is no doubt from the pictures i saw of the quality of the toy, and i also found the asking price to be reasonable after doing research on it. I highly suggest this toy as a gift for any avid collector. And from a woman's point of view, this toy is very, very attractive and handsome!
