5Great gift idea  Dec 28, 2011
By Lone shark... "One that travels"
weapons

Back to subject: this item gold color plate. Looks great by the window still on sunny day. Man this shine. Back packs are change able, so depending on which person you like form the show. You can have the gundams set from Mwu La Flaga or Cagalli. I put up pics ups.

Pro: stands up really well, draws attention from other gundams models.
Don't need to paint, unless you want to touch up on the joints, hands and weapons.
Don't need glue to put together.

Con: I just got hang on putting on the stickers, but this guy don't have a lot lol so it just depends on you.
Hard to decide which pack to place on!
This model fingers are fixed. I like gundams with with joint fingers.
Price... I don't really know why price is so up $80.... glad I got my 20 less. But then its gold crome plate cover. so........

Warning: when it comes to the small jet pack. Pay close attention to instruction. Don't glue. I glad I did not glue. Almost did. But when placing wing together, engine parts. I install them back ward by mistake, so I had to take apart very carefully. In end I got it the way it should be lol! I love a good challenge!

Over all I really like this item and it make a great gift for someone who into model building or like the show Gundam seed. I have to admit I did not at first care for the show. I just like building models, and game for new projects. Even though the instructions is in an other language, its ok. I enjoy painting. But parts don't need to be painted. For now that be all right.

41/100 HG Akatsuki Gold Version  Aug 24, 2010
By brrndon
First impressions when I opened the packaging to this kit was, "Wow, this is going to be hard to keep track of all the gold." Over 80% of the runners are nicely done blingy metallic gold, and when I closely inspected the gold pieces, I could only find 2 pieces where the packaging had rubbed the gold plating off. This is impressive considering the package was sent through the Military Postal Service. The kit fits together extremely well, although some of the pieces seem to fit a little too tight. Be careful when handling the ball joints on the backpack units, they are easily broken if forced into place; remember to use some finesse. The gold pieces themselves make extensive use of the undergate technology, resulting in very few marks noticable when the kit is complete. As it is only a High Grade kit, there is little to no inner frame, so you don't get to see the inner workings of this guy, however it still holds its own with the included stand for dramatic poses. The joints are strong enough to hold its weight when standing(even with a backpack unit attatched), and the legs moderately articulate while still being able to maintain balance of the unit. What really makes the kit pop is (obviously) the gold armor. It really highlights the angles and details of the kit, and there are better than average details molded into the pieces themselves (for example the model number of the unit is actually molded into the left fin of the head). It even comes with a sheet of decals. Overall, it is an awesome kit, and looks amazing when it is completed. The only downside I have come across is the awkwardnes of the shield when you try to position it for a pose.

Pros
1)Looks great (very shiney ^_^)
2)Lots of pieces to keep you busy
3)Comes with a choice of armaments
4)Comes with a stand

Cons
1)Some parts can be easily broken if care isnt taken to put them together
2)A little on the expensive side for a HG kit
