A great addition to any Play Arts collection Dec 21, 2010

The Play Arts "Kai" are a new version of the old Play Arts, but they are bigger and made to be more durable. So far, this has held true for the Hope Play Arts I've purchased.
The only reason that I took a star off for durability is because when he arrived, there is a bag on his belt that had already come halfway off that I had to glue into place. It was a very tiny piece that it was secured by, so it's not a big deal that it came off since it was easy to fix, but I figured it's still worth mentioning.
The clothing materials are made of a strange rubbery plastic now, rather than just plastic, making it more durable and more realistic looking. He comes with the boomerang weapon, which has fantastic detail in the painting. Hope seems to take on more of his CGI appearance in the Play Arts rather than in-game as his face looks extremely feminine, much like it does in Final Fantasy XIII's cinematic graphics. Not that I am complaining, as the details look great.
The only complaint is that the Kai series is no longer to scale with the others. However, through the years, I've noticed that most Play Arts don't scale too terribly well together (compare one from VIII, X, and XII, and you'll see) to begin with, but it's most noticeable with the Kai as they look like giants compared to the rest.
Regardless, Hope looks fantastic and I'd highly recommend him for anyone that is already an avid Play Arts collector.

Great Action figure. Play Arts Kai is much more durable then the previous version.
Pros: Sturdy construction. Good use of soft plastic so it feels durable.
Cons: Bigger then the previous play arts action figures so they don't scale well with the older action figures.
